TRAINING TIPS

Ride to Give is a peloton supported ride, held on public roads. Riders will be placed into graded pelotons (groups) and be required to ride safely at an agreed average speed throughout the duration of each day.
Each peloton will ride at a collective pace, so it’s imperative everyone participating in the Ride reaches an agreed base level of fitness so they can ride safely with others. We recommend you download and read Entoure’s handy Group Riding Guide for further information on road and peloton safety, as well as their Guide to Bunch Riding.

The base level for this ride is 25km an hour and peloton average speeds will range from the base level of 25km an hour up to 30km an hour and above. All riders must understand that a certain level of training and experience is required. It’s important for everyone to work on stamina and endurance and that starts with simply getting on the bike.

Every training kilometre makes a difference and every training session will help riders achieve their goals. We suggest riders follow a training plan that works best for them. Identify the areas you need to work on and to focus on those areas as much as you can.

Remember, the main goal of training is to ride your bike consistently, understand where you currently stand in terms of fitness and what areas you need to focus on, and develop a plan that will help you achieve the desired outcome. Once you have a plan in place, it's all about executing it with dedication and, most importantly, having fun along the way!

If you have any questions on how to train for the ride, please reach out to Kent from Entoure on kentwilliams.entoure@gmail.com.

WHATSAPP GROUP

A WhatsApp group has been set up for the social training rides, where you can stay updated on meet-up points, times, and any changes. You can join the group by clicking the link below on your mobile device:

CHECK YOUR GEAR

Make sure your bike and helmet are in good working order before the ride. If necessary, book your bike in for a service to ensure everything is functioning properly. For those based in Sydney, we recommend Anderson Fernandes at Ando's Cycle Works in Rockdale—visit www.andoscycleworks.com for more details.

FUNDRAISING

As part of your participation in Ride to Give, each rider is required to raise a minimum of $3,300 to support the incredible work we do. This fundraising goal plays a vital role in ensuring that we can continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children across the country.

We encourage you to tap into your networks, get creative with fundraising ideas, and share why you’re riding with others. Every dollar raised helps provide essential resources and support for the kids who need it most. Together, we can reach this goal and make a real difference. Thank you for your commitment, and let’s make this year’s Ride to Give the most impactful one yet!

PACKING LIST

You can download the packing list below. Please aim to pack everything into one bag. If absolutely necessary, you may bring up to two bags, but we kindly ask that you limit it to that.

Please keep in mind that we will be transporting your baggage to different accommodations each day, and we can only carry a maximum of two bags per rider. Each of your bags will have a tag with your accommodation and contact details. This tag must remain on your bag at all times throughout the ride.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders - past, present and emerging - and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year we ride across the land of the Wiradjuri, Ngunnawal, Tarlo, Burra Burra, Wollondilly, Pajong, Parramarragoo and Cookmal peoples. We acknowledge and respect these living cultures and their peoples, as the traditional custodians of the land on which we ride and pay tribute to the unique role that they have played and continue to play in the region.
